Once again no comments allowed

Once again I find my comments are not allowed on WordPress sites. This happened before. Check your records. I can post on my own site http://www.josephurban.wordpress.com but when I TRY to comment on other sites (like NY-23) or the (Progressive cynic). Why is this happening again? I do not make vulgar or inappropriate comments. I wish you would find some technical person who can solve this. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have had this problem. I have never had any explanation other than..uh..well…the system isn’t perfect. Well, I never had this problem until about 6 months ago, so something changed.

You received a Staff reply in your earlier forum thread here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/comments-not-showing-up-on-other-blogs-1?replies=4#post-2854148 which indicated that you needed to fill out the form on Akismet. Did you do so?

Jennifer. YES. I filled out the form with the websites and for about 3 weeks I was able to post again. Two different technical people contacted me, Then, about a week ago. BAM. No longer able to post. This is the third time this year this has happened. Seems like this did not happen BEFORE Askimet was being used.

Hi Joseph – Thanks for the additional information. Please give us direct links to posts where you’ve tried to leave a comment so that we can determine whether those sites are hosted on WordPressdotcom (and using Akismet), then I’ll tag this thread for Staff attention.
FWIW – Akismet spam protection has been used on WordPressdotcom sites since its inception. Unless those sites are marking your comments as spam (as opposed to simply deleting your comment), they shouldn’t be caught when you are logged in with your WPcom account and leaving a comment on a WPcom site.

When you submitted your comments on those sites, did your comment just disappear into the ether or did/do you see your comment with “Your comment is awaiting moderation”?

Comments just vanished. In the past, they would appear immediately, with no moderation. I don’t think any of these site have moderation waiting. At lest they have not in the past.

It sounds like your username/email is again in the spam filter. You’ll want to go the contact Akismet route.
FWIW-if you see the “awaiting moderation” notice after you post a comment, site owners are not obligated to approve or display comments they receive. As I said, if your comments are being marked as spam by the site owner as opposed to simply deleting them, then there can be trouble. Once you are out of the spam filter, you might consider contacting the site owners to mention the issue.

So. I am put in the “spam” filter by Askimet, for no reason. I don’t know how or why or when I was put in the “spam” filter by Askimet. And I am supposed to somehow extricate myself from a place where I was never supposed to be in the first place. Askimet has no responsibility to remove me? I was never notified by Askimmet that I was being put in a spam filter. No ability to find out why or challenge their decision.
And you wish me “good luck”. Thank you. I appreciate that.
(FYI. None of the sites I mentioned have a “waiting moderation” system. So that does not even apply.)
It seems that Askimet, like so many “services” we see today, can simply screw up and walk away without fixing the problem they cause. Sad. Very sad. -
If a site owner has flagged your comment as spam, then Akismet learns from that.
