Once you cancel a domain, when is it released again?

  The support in here is useless it just loops, and loops, none of the “Customer Support” works. I need to know once I cancel a bundle including the domain when is it released again? I cancel it within two days and I stil lcan’t buy anywhere else. Does WordPress keep the domain?

  It’s up to the registrar; it’s not up to WordPress.com and it can take 80 days or more. Also note the registrar does not have to offer the domain name for sale at all. They own it and can do with it whatever they wish to do with it. There is a whole industry built around grabbing up domain names and squatting on them and demanding big bucks to buy them.

  But I bought it throught WordPress, am I the Registrar? if I cancel the bundle purchase with domain shouldn;t it be released? Sorry I need more info.

  @lipaza: The registrar that is used by WordPress.com is a company called Wild West domains.

  If you are looking to use your domain to point to another website, you do not need to cancel it. You can change the nameservers to point to another web host if need be.

  As timethief mentioned, it can take a long time for a domain to be released once it is cancelled, and very often someone will scoop it up before you can re-register it.

  The Registar is Wild West Domains. My answer above is correct. Whether or not the Registrar chooses to release the domain in 80 days time is not up to WordPress.com at all.

  WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

  If you notify us within two days of purchase you may cancel a domain name purchased through WordPress.com and receive a full refund. After cancellation, there is no guarantee that the domain will become available to register somewhere else and you may not be able to get it back. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/

  Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard

  Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
