One email address connected with two accounts
-
Long ago I opened a free WP account (lighthouse101). Never did anything with it, but didn’t know how to delete it. I forgot all about it.
Now yesterday I get a new domain name through GoDaddy and want to start a blog through WP. The email I use for GoDaddy is the same I use for the lighthouse101 account. Somehow I am able to open a new account (different user name though: cornelia) and start building my blog.
Then I happen to log out and try logging in again and “lighthouse101” shows up. Through cookie deletes/restarts etc. I am able to fire up my new “cornelia” blog a couple more times, but by now I have password resets that mix up my two user names etc.
Now by trial and error (resets/cookie deletes) I AM sometimes able to access “lighthouse101” (the one I don’t need at all and would like to see deleted), and cannot access my new blog, where I already have written stuff, uploaded photos and text.
Besides the one email connected to two different user names, I it will not send a password recover to my username “cornelia”. Please help, I am utterly baffled. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can update your email address in your Account Settings, or in your Personal Settings under Users → Personal Settings in your dashboard.

Here are the two username accounts:

Timethief, my new profile is “cornelia” not “corneila”.
Also, I was surprised it accepted this username, as “cornelia” is kind of like “barbara”. I thought usernames are unique and belong only to one person? -
Also, I DID today change the email address on the lighthouse account, but this is when I wasn’t able to access my other username anymore, so I am afraid, that something changed there too. The conclusion is that I absolutely, 100% can’t access my important new account anymore.

YIKES! I’m sorry. I posted the wrong link

See, this is really interesting now, because this is not me!
I don’t have this account (cornelia) for 8 years but since yesterday.
When it asked me for “user” I put in “cornelia”,
when it asked for my email, I put in my email.
And it all accepted it. Through GoDaddy.
I am really freaked out now because here I am, with a domain name, one blog entry and just the start of doing something, and no access to it.
Is there a way to directly access wordpress support?
The thing is, I as “cornelia” did also do a “password reset” and sure enough it didn’t come to my email. Most likely it came to the person who registered this username 8 years ago. -

Hi there,
I looked into the two accounts, and this is what I found:
You were only able to access the account with the username: lighthouse101.
I see a lot of attempts made to log into the account with the username: cornelia, but none were successful.
When it asked me for “user” I put in “cornelia”,
when it asked for my email, I put in my email.
And it all accepted it. Through GoDaddy. This makes me wonder if you are talking about the self-hosted version of WordPress at WordPress.org and not WordPress.com. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

Let me know which WordPress you are trying to get access to. With WordPress.org you would need hosting from say a host like GoDaddy, so let me know if that is the case.
Cheers!
