  I started a new blog and I would just like to try the upgrade for one month and not shell out 129 for a year is that possible?

  There isn’t an option to only pay for one month of the Premium plan, however WordPress.com offers a 30-day refund. You can buy the upgrade, try it out and then request a refund if it’s not to your liking.
