One more blogname mishap..

So, I have already seen a number of posts along these lines and my hopes are not hight at this point. But, I did not see anything specifically about this issue so I might have a shot.
I was trying to check availability for a blog name for someone that does not have a wordpress account and grabbed the name instead. So, no problem – I thought, I will just delete it later once the person gets set up and then they will be able to use it.
Wrong! Apparently it doesn’t work that way. I deleted the name and now it is gone forever?
Seems pretty harsh. Is there any way that this can be brought back?
I do still have the name over at blogspot, so I can always switch to them I guess.

You would have to contact staff on that and see if they will make an exception. Make sure and include all the details including the username it was under, the full URL of the blog you want resurrected, the email address that you used when you set it up. The thing is though that there are clear warnings when deleting a blog and in the confirmation email.
