One more question: Adding a page of just images
-
Blog: http://rwwalters.wordpress.com
Hi there. First, thanks for the help everyone. Some of my Qs have been stupid, so here’s hoping this one isn’t!
Is there a way to add a page, or widget, or anything, that can show all images (or even random selections) uploaded by all authors? Or any tool for showcasing the entire media library of all authors…. kinda like the Flickr widget, except for photos uploaded to authors’ posts within wordpress. Would save authors having to create a separate account for Flickr, if they didn’t already have one.
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have a category for each author, say “John,” “Maya,” and “Kris,” (and each author categorizes their posts with their names), then readers would be able to see all the pictures posted by each by reading each one’s posts.
But if you want just pictures from each author on individual pages, then make a child page for each author to place their pictures there. It’s a simple matter for each to copy the images into a separate page. Drag and drop! Open 2 browser windows (in edit mode): one the author’s picture page, the other the author’s post. Select the pictures, one at a time in the post, and drag them to the page.

The problem is that there will be 10+ authors and therefore too cumbersome to add child pages with separate images. Was hoping for a tool similar to the Flickr widget that can just randomly showcase pictures from the entire blog media library…

Is this the student travel blog? There’s no way to randomly display photos from the media library that I’m aware of, but what you can do to handle a great number of photos is to establish another (yet another!) blog for the photos and link to it.
The monotone theme is designed for photoblogging and the students would have to upload the photos to both blogs, but it would only take a moment and they could add a few words about each photo. You could use an RSS widget to put the feed from the photo blog in the sidebar of the travel blog.

Nice work around, but I’m not sure authors will bother with the extra step. Probably my best shot though.
Cheers.

That’s up to them, isn’t it? If they want people to see their shots showcased in a blog designed for photos, they’ll do it. If not, you can’t twist their arms.
