one post getting lots of spam
-
I have one post: http://lindaghill.com/2015/04/13/k-is-for-key/ that receives around a hundred spam comments per day, half a dozen of which get past Akismet each day. I’m wondering if there’s some phrase/tag combination/buzzword within the post that attracts so many spammers.
Can you help? I don’t want to turn off the comments on the post, but this is really annoying. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Linda!
That’s certainly frustrating! Spam comments can be difficult to figure out/understand. It might be that this post is appearing higher in search engines for a particular search query. Unfortunately, we don’t have a way of understanding exactly why these spammers find your post attractive.
I scanned through the spam queue looking for comments on that particular post. Even more frustrating, the spam comments don’t appear to have the same email address. As of right, the best options are as follows:
– Continue marking them as spam rather than just deleting them. This helps to train Akismet to better recognize the spam.
– If a lot of the spam comments have a common string of text (doesn’t seem to be the case right now), I suggest adding that string to your blacklist:

You can use the comment author’s name, IP address, and web site, as well as the comment itself. Make sure the word is not something contained in non-spam comments. For example, if you enter “press” as a blacklisted word, “WordPress” will match.

Thanks. Yeah, it never seems to be the same name/IP address/website twice – at least not the comments that get past Akismet. If only there was a way for the program to catch comments that have nothing to do with the post. Haha.
Okay, I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. Thanks again, Jeremey.
