    Hi,

I have a client who wants to base his new site on WordPress. He wants users to be able to comment on blog posts, sign up to a mailing list and post in a forum with one identity.

Does anyone know of a way for me to achieve this? He won’t go ahead with the build without knowing this can be achieved and this site is for a REALLY big band’s website and I REALLY want to get the job!

    Thanks a million,

    Danny

Comments, yes. Email updates, yes. Forum, no. Identities are also based on whether someone has a wordpress.com account and blog. Basically, if you don’t sign up for an account, you won’t have an identity, which I would assume is the same for any hosting site.

Ok i see. So users can’t signup directly to the site? They just become general WordPress memebers? We don’t really want there to be any mention of WordPress over the site, I’m using it more as a CMS rather than a straight blog.

Basically we want users to come to the site, sign up with a simple username/email/password form then use that username/password to post in all community aspects of the site.

I would suggest you find a forum hoster, or maybe go to wordpress.org as wordpress.com is unable to provide that. Forums will allow you to sign up to the site, blogs generally will not.

Also, it will be difficult for you not to mention the host of any website you build.

Wait a minute. Are you talking about a wordpress.COM site or a wordpress.ORG site? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1 Perhaps you are in the wrong forums. There are things we cannot do here at wordpress.COM that you may be able to do with the wordpress.ORG software.
