OneDrive video embeds broken
-
Previously I had embedded some video files from my OneDrive into my blog and they worked fine, but lately I notice that when embedded the first video on the page redirects and opens on the OneDrive page, taking users away from my blog. Even if they go back the page will re-open and redirect to OneDrive. Any idea as to why this has changed or how to fix it? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you open the page give it a few seconds. It will either go to OneDrive with an error or auto-open the video in OneDrive. I mean, I want it to open the video in OneDrive, but only if someone clicks on the graphic, which is what used to happen. The embedded code would place an image of the video and clicking on it would THEN redirect you to the video in OneDrive. Now it doesn’t even do that, it just auto-opens.

Thanks @snappertrx, you can make the post private if you’d like, so only you and staff can access it.

I’ve been looking for similar cases — are _all_ One Drive embeds on your site no longer working, or just this one?
-
All video embeds no longer work. If I have more than one on a page then one of the few will be the one to load. I assume its whichever embed technically loads onto the page first. I am uncertain about anything other than video files, as I don’t have any documents embedded into any of my pages that I can remember, they are all video embeds.
-
I’m looking at the console when loading the page and it has several errors from One Drive. This time it redirected to this: “Sorry, something went wrong
Our server is having a problem. We’re working to fix it as soon as we can, so try again in a few minutes.” -
Yes, on occasion it will load an error page, but most of the time it auto loads the video. I have seen both.
-
The fact that it’s working intermittently, combined with the error message I saw, suggests that they are having server problems that they are working to resolve on their end.
When did this start for you?

I only noticed it a couple of months ago. Prior to that it would act in the way described before: The embed code would place an image of the video on the page. Clicking on the image would then take you to the opened video file on the OneDrive site, as it should.
Also, when parsed the embed code gets changed by the WP editor. The original embed code looks like this (generated from OneDrive):
<iframe src=”https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=018E9DB8400C2507&resid=18E9DB8400C2507%21281615&authkey=AKFlwx-Sdxh8JpU” width=”320″ height=”177″ frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no” allowfullscreen></iframe>
After pasting into the WP editor (in HTML mode) it gets changed to this:
<iframe src=”https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=018E9DB8400C2507&resid=18E9DB8400C2507%21281615&authkey=AKFlwx-Sdxh8JpU” width=”320″ height=”177″ frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no” allowfullscreen></iframe>
Not sure if my blockquotes will work with the html code, I may need to post this a second time if it looks wrong.

Guess I didn’t copy the WP change right. Here it is.

Its almost like the WP editor recognizes OneDrive as “office” and changes to code to embed the file as an office document via WPs own embed code.
-
Ah thanks @snappertrx. I didn’t realize this was a long term issue for you. We’ll do more digging on this side.
Have the videos ever worked for you?
-
Yes, at one time they functioned as described. The embed code would place an image of the video on the page. Clicking on the image would THEN take the visitor to the video on OneDrive.
-
-
-
Yes. I know they did, as I had looked over them several times after they were published.
-
Thanks @snappertrx. I’ve filed a bug about this.
Have you thought about uploading the videos to another social network? That could potentially give the videos a bit more exposure.
-
Yeah, I’m not one for creating dozens of accounts on dozens of websites just to post videos/images online. Until I get lined up to get a paid WP account that will give me the ability to upload videos OneDrive has been my go to. Thanks for the advice, though. Maybe I should review what accounts I already have and see if I can find a work around, but sticking with OD would be nice, as I already have a bunch of stuff there.
