OnLime ISP, lb.wordpress.com blocked.

    Some time ago, it was reported here that the ISP OnLime (Moscow, Russia) is blocking a large part of WordPress.

    I would like to report that the problem still persists. Each and every blog that is accessed through lb.wordpress.com is blocked, which makes a huge part of WordPress inaccessible. The ISP do confirm that they’re blocking all the IP addresses associated with lb.wordpress.com and seem quite intent on continuing doing so. The majority of ISP’s in Moscow has already sorted out the issue with the two blogs that were found to be extremist in a court of law by only blocking the Web addresses of the blogs in question. However, the OnLime ISP, by all appearances, has decided to take a truly Orwellian stance on the matter. Honestly, I don’t expect WordPress to be able or willing to sort this out — I just wanted to make it known that the problem still does take place, that’s it.

    China has been known to block WordPress.com blogs, and there is nothing that we can do about this. As a workaround, you can try using a VPN or proxy to access the blog. The following links provide some options that you may be able to explore and/or use:

    We have also heard that some users have had luck simply by using Opera Turbo:

    @johndoerichardroe: thanks for letting us know.

    You are correct, most of the ISPs in Russia have complied with removing the strict blocking of WordPress.com sites, however, there are some ISPs that have not removed the blocking. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do as it’s up to the ISP and not us whether or not the blocks are lifted.
