Online fraud on a WP site
-
Dear WP Community,
I am investigating an online crypto fraud on the website caviex.com.Their website has been built using WP, so I would like to ask, under which circumstances is possible to get WP’s cooperation and get any kind of information about the owner.
I can provide a police report if needed.
What can I do in order to track down the owner? Thank you all!
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Your best bet is to have a look at a “Who Is”. WordPress is just free software and anyone can use it to build a site at any host. This is the host WordPress.com and it doesn’t look like the site is hosted here. The domain was registered with Namecheap.

Thank you, yeah, eventually they used WHOIS protection so I hoped WP would share an email that was used to Sign Up to WP or maybe a 2FA phone number..

@vitmusilek389 To avoid any confusion, it’s important to distinguish between three different versions of “WordPress”:
- The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
- WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software for free to use on your chosen hosting provider.
- WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.
As @themagicrobot indicated, the website is not hosted here so there is nothing we can help with. Your best bet would be finding the domain registrar, which you can look up via the ICANN registry: https://lookup.icann.org/en/lookup
Best of luck.
