  • Hi.

So, the $48/year plan is the Personal plan, our basic blogging plan at WordPress.com. That wouldn’t give you what you need to run an e-commerce store, as it’s designed to be quite a minimal platform for simple blogs.

To set up an e-commerce store (with WooCommerce already installed as well as all our usual site speed, security, etc.), you’d want to look at the Business plan. Here is a chart that explains the differences between the plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/. Click on the “Compare The Plans” button to learn more about the differences.

There are actually lots of different payment gateways out there, but Stripe is undoubtedly popular. You can see some of the choices here – https://woocommerce.com/search/?q=gateways&collections=product&page=1

WooPayments is a good choice as it’s made by us here, so we can support it for you. Setting up Stripe is relatively easy. Once you have created a Stripe account, link it to your site, and off you go.

I hope that helps provide more information for your research, but if we can answer anything else, please let us know. Very happy to help.
