Hi there!
The easiest way to create a list of your five most recent posts would be to use the display posts shortcode explained here:
For example, you could use the following shortcode to display your most recent five posts alongside an excerpt.
[display-posts posts_per_page="5" include_excerpt="true"]Additional modifier codes can be found in the support document. Would that work for what you’re looking for?

Hi Jeremy,
thanks for your reply (and sorry for delay on my reply).
What I would like on the the homepage is a layout like this:http://abouthpnetworking.com/category/comware5/
This is of course limited to a specific category, so I would just need the latest posts of any category.
The layout however is what I want:
* Title on separate line from post
* Excerpt of the post + continue reading
* Link at bottom of page with “older posts”With the [display-posts ] shortcode, it looks similar, but title and excerpt are on the same line, and there is no “continuation” to older posts.
I could also just use a generic category “all posts” and use that link, but then how can I make this URL into my homepage ?

Hi there!
There are several ways to accomplish this, but the easiest way is by using the More tag explained here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
Basically, wherever you place that tag in your post, your content preview will stop and readers will see the “Read More” option. So, if you did this for your previous 10 posts, the home page should look as desired. You will have the most recent posts with a short summary and the “Read More” link where the More tag cuts the content. At the bottom of the page, you should have a “Older Posts” link by default.
Give that a try and let me know if that works for you!

Hi Jeremy,
Many thanks, this was exactly what I needed !
Now the homepage just shows the excerpt of the posts and the overall page formatting is still nice. Thanks again !
