Only 1st paragraph showing up in post

The last two days, I’ve created a number of posts without difficulty in here. Today, however, something weird has happened. When I click on my newest post from the “Table of Contents” section, the post only shows the first paragraph. However, when I put the rest of the article in the post (thankfully, I didn’t delete it first) and click the Update button, a little black banner appears at the bottom left of the screen. I clicked on the View Post and the post appeared correctly. However, when I refreshed the “Table of Contents” page and clicked on the post, it again showed only one paragraph. I do my posts in the HTML mode and thus far have not had any problem. So, I looked at the code and where the article left off was the required </p> for the end of the paragraph which paragraph started off with the <p>. The next line started off with another <p> as it should have. Note that I do a copy and paste with each new paragraph, emptying out the data between the <p> and the </p> so I start out fresh. I’ve done this all along. I did five posts yesterday using this same technique without an issue. I even used a paragraph from one of those five posts to begin this one. This is very confusing because I can find nothing wrong with the HTML code. The code in the new posts also only shows the one paragraph, even though lots of paragraphs were included in the original. And, as I said, when I clicked on the View Post at the bottom left in the black box, the post displayed with all of the paragraphs intact. I hope that made sense.

Hi there,
I took a look at your site at http://boonefamilyhistory.wordpress.com/, but I don’t see any Table of Contents. The most recent post, https://boonefamilyhistory.wordpress.com/2022/05/22/boone-family-history-chapter-iii/, also appears fine to me, with several paragraphs and a (To be continued) followed by a note at the bottom.
Is that the correct site?
I do my posts in the HTML mode
In the classic editor, or the block editor?

I tried a new tactic and it worked. I had previously copied off the post with all its HTML code onto my laptop. I then stripped off all the HTML and copied it back into the offending post after deleting all the text except that title. (I wish there were a way to center the title and other things since <center> is no longer accepted. Everything I tried that I got from the web I couldn’t get to work.) I think I’ll just go that route from now own—type everything on my laptop and just copy it into the post and see how that works.

Thanks also for the reminder about the Table of Contents. A couple of my blogs, if you want to call them that, do have TOCs. I need to do that to my other sites as well. Thanks again.
