Only blog owners can migrate subscribers
-
Hi,
I’m trying to transfer blog subscribers from gemmareynolds.wordpress.com to gemmareynoldsphotography.com, via jetpack – but keep getting the error that “Only blog owners can migrate subscribers”.
I’m guessing the issue revolves around the fact that Gemma set up gemmareynolds.wordpress.com and is therefore the owner of that, but I set up the new site at gemmareynoldsphotography.com. So there are two different owners for the sites – despite us both being admins on both sites.
Can someone tell me how to get around this – or help me move the subscribers over? Its the last few steps in what has been a long migration! :(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You will need to connect jetpack to the account that owns the WordPress.com site you want to migrate from.
-
Yes I’ve tried every combination of logins and connections possible:
(me on self hosted domain, and me on wordpress.com; gemma on self hosted domain and me on wordpress.com; me on selfhosted, gemma on .com; gemma on selfhosted, etc) and there is no change in the result. So no matter if who connect the accounts to I get the same result of “only blog owners can migrate subscribers”It’s driving me mad! :)

Okay, so here’s what we’ll do, have gemma log into her WP.com account and make a request in this thread for that migration. Between the two of you making the request, that will be enough.

Hi,
As requested please transfer the blog followers from gemmareynolds.wordpress.com to gemmareynoldsphotography.com
Thanks,
Gem.

I have migrated your subscribers and followers to your new site.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Hi rootjosh,
Thanks for helping here – but there seems to be a problem. The original blog had over 1000 followers. since the transfer the new site only has 36 followers, and the wordpress.com site still has 984 followers.
Why have all the followers not moved?
Thanks,
Neil.
-
Those 984 followers are from Twitter. WordPress.com cannot transfer Twitter followers.

However, once you get your new site reconnected to Twitter, those followers should be following you once again.

Hi,
Thanks for all your help with this. Think we can count this one as closed.
Cheers,
Neil.
