Only one xml exported by ‘Export all’ option

    Hi. I tried to export my web, and only one XML file got exported. I’d expect all the web files to be exported (index.php, homepage, etc.)

    How can I export my WP site with a free plan?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    This is the only way to export your site. And yes that XML-file contains all content from your site as there is no real homepage file and so on …

    But in that case, I won’t see anything when I move these files into my hosting provider to my custom domain, right?

    Because that happened.

    Hi there,

    How do you ‘move’ your files to the hosting provider?
    You will need to use the Import function under Tools. Select WordPress to import (click on install now if you haven’t installed any WordPress importer).

    I have a new WP installed on my custom hosting with a custom domain.
    However, I can’t import the home page as one of “Pages”

    Failed to create new user for bartecko. Their posts will be attributed to the current user.
Page “Blog” already exists.

Post “Our best crêpes recipe” already exists.
Page “” already exists.
Media “Placeholder Image” already exists.
Media “Placeholder Image” already exists.

Page “Contact” already exists.

Media “Logo” already exists.
Media “dsc4333” already exists.
Media “dsc4328” already exists.
Media “logo_witout_bg” already exists.

Remember to update the passwords and roles of imported users.

    Hi there,

    Seems like you have imported multiple times, and all the pages/blog posts/media have already existed in your custom hosting WordPress site. If not, you will need to delete all the duplicated pages/blog posts/media before running the import function.

    Did you set the “Blog” page as your homepage?

    One way to find out is to log in to the WordPress.com admin dashboard of your site, then go to Appearance > Customize.

    Look for Hompage settings, and it should show either “A static page” setting with the page name or “Your latest posts”.

    You will need to have the same setting applied to your custom hosting too.

    And, don’t forget to publish all the pages or posts, else it won’t be visible.
