Only Specific Authors in Authors Widget?

I have a blog with several regular authors (using the theme Contempt), and we’re just beginning to add “guest” bloggers as well. I’ve created a text widget (with help from the forums!) for these guest bloggers, but they are of course also appearing in the authors widget (which I don’t want to erase: love the avatars). Is there any way to remove specific authors from the authors widget, so they’ll show up only in the text widget I’ve created? Would it be possible to take out certain writers if they were contributors rather than authors? Thanks!

  • The only real option you have with the widget is to include (or not include) ALL authors, including those who have not published a post. You cannot currently hide specific authors. You would need to create a separate Text Widget and list the authors manually.

So, the same holds true for contributors: they’ll all just show up in the authors widget? I had considered making all guest bloggers contributors (as well as writers who aren’t currently putting up a lot of posts, but I’d still like to have the option of writing for me) if that would keep them from automatically being included in the authors widget. But it sounds like as far as the authors widget is concerned, authors and contributors are the same?

I suppose I could create separate text widgets for different categories of writers, but I love the way an avatar appears next to the name in the author widget. Could I recreate this in a text box?

    Thanks for your continued help!

This explains how to put an image in your sidebar: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/18/put-an-image-in-your-sidebar/

    Hope that helps.
