Only want a free site

I am trying to launch my web site and don’t want to pay for it. I am only getting an option for a paid site, as it’s not going live once I hit ‘launch.’ Can you please tell me how to make the site live and public if it’s not a paid site? I am ok having wordpress.com on the url. Thanks!

After clicking “Launch” you should see your free address but it will be below the offers of paid domains. You click on “skip purchase” next to your free address, click “continue with free” on the next page and you’re done.
