Only want a Gravatar, am being pitched a WordPress account. How to just get the Gravatar?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am setting up a website using WordPress. I have paid for my spiritwarworld.com URL at Namecheap, and for web hosting by StableHost – from which I downloaded the WordPress program which I am now using to build the website. Now I am trying to get a Gravatar for the User Profile on my WordPress website. For this, I went to Gravatar and registered and requested the confirmation email. Upon confirming, I have been sent to this website which is oriented towards opening an account for a website (which I already have) with WordPress. No offense, but I’m already in process of developing my website and all I want is a Gravatar. I have the picture for the Gravatar ready to upload. How can I just proceed with the Gravatar without paying for duplication of what I’ve already done in building my website? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Hi there! You do need a WordPress.com account to create a Gravatar. You don’t need a site. This guide might be helpful to you: https://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatars/

As long as your WordPress.com account was created with the same email you use to login to your site, you can add a profile image at https://wordpress.com/me for this to work.

If you used a different email, go to https://gravatar.com and click the WordPress.com login button. You’ll see an option to add more emails. You can manage all your emails and their corresponding Gravatars via the one login.

    Hope that helps!
