oops page cannot be found

  • Unknown's avatar

I have two pages, my Home and Books page that seem to be missing. When I click on them, they give me the message that the page cannot be found. When I got to My Site and I look under the pages tab, they are there. I update them and then can view the pages, but when I go back to either of the pages later, it says they are missing again. The Home and Books URL has a “trashed” at the end. When I remove that, I can see the pages, but cannot get the pages to stay open. Any ideas?

    Hey Steve!

My suggestion would be to go to Appearance – Menus and remove both Home and Books from the top menu. After that, drag Home and Books back into the menu and save the changes. This should cause the menu links to update and link to the appropriate categories/pages.

    That did it! Thanks.

    Hi!
I know the problem was already solved, but I’m with the similar problem. I have updated my version of wordpress, and then the templates loaded with the phrase “oops that page can’t be found”, and not loaded any widget. So, I made up the downgrade to the version 4.6 (before I was updated do the version 4.7.2) and the problem is still there.
I already have deleted the files “wp-admin” and “wp-includes” to replace the new one and already modified some lines in .htaccess, but nothing gets solved.
I already tried also to change the templantes and even the twenty fifteen doesn’t load correctly. Please, somebody have any idea what I could do?
I tried to search in many sites but anything helps me.

  • Hi @labfashionsp!

It sounds like you might be running a self hosted WordPress site, which is a little different from the WordPress.com hosted sites this particular forum is geared towards. I’d recommend posting over on the self hosted support forums at http://WordPress.org/support for help – the answers you get there will be tailored more to your setup :)
