Open ID not verifying with WordPress, No reply blogger
-
Two problems, both related to commenting on Blogger.com blogs –
1. Open ID says it cannot verify my wordpress blog
2. I am showing as a ‘no-reply blogger’, how do I fix that? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is a considerable backlog of threads we are trying to address at this time. I’m sorry you had to wait for so long.My experience is that Open ID is prone to failure so I no longer use it. It’s not the fault of WordPress.com that it does not work as intended.
Please try this:
Log out of WordPress.com and all sites you’re attempting to log into with your WP OpenID.
Clear your browser cookies (instructions: http://support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/).
Log back into WordPress.com
Try logging into the other site with your OpenID again. -
Thank you, Time Thief, for trying to help, but I tried that approach in the beginning, but it was a no go. A lot of problems get solved by just clearing the cache, so it is always the first thing I do before going to a forum. Then I read the last hundred or so thread titles to be sure my problem hasn’t been covered before. I think it is an interface problem between Blogger and WordPress. It works just fine on Blogspot comments. Seems to work OK on self hosted sites. It is just a few that have the issue, but they are all Blogger.com – and it is likely the problem lies on the Blogger site. But, it would be nice if it was seen by support and maybe there is some little setting in the code that would solve it.

I tagged the thread so it will not fall through the cracks and escape attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
Can you go to your OpenID settings at Settings > OpenID and remove Blogger as an authorized site, and then try it again?
It’ll ask you again to authorize when you first time you comment.
Thanks!

Um, oops, no it didn’t. I had it wrong before. It is Blogspot, not Blogger that has the issue. I added it manually to the Open ID setting, still isn’t working.

Hi Carole,
After looking into your settings I see that you misspelled the site. You forgot a period:
As for the no-reply blogger, one of our volunteers (timethief) explains this quite well here:

You nailed it Grace, now it is working on my blogspot friend’s site for a comment. Thank you for your sharp eyes and your persistence!
The link on the no-reply basically told me what I am already doing, using a name/URL instead of Open ID. Ah, progress.
Thanks again for all your help.

Well, it isn’t working anymore. It worked for one post, now nada. The last two Blogspot blogs I tried to leave a comment on didn’t have the name/url as an option. It is frustrating when commenting is the only way to enter a contest.

I’m sorry about the frustration but we really cannot help at this end re: the comment setting that .blogspot.com blogger choose to use.

Yeah, I know that. I just wanted you to see that I looked for it as an option. I still don’t understand why those two cannot or will not talk to each other. Oh well.
