Open Office Document Support
-
Does wordpress.com have plans to update the list of safely uploadable formats to Open Office? If so, when? If not, why not?
In the meantime, what are my options (besides exporting as .doc) for uploading my files to wordpress.com?

(1) WordPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform that runs on different software than wordpress.org uses. Here is why any word-processor – including Open Office – should not be used. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/why-not-to-use-word/
If you prefer an more elegant explanation please wait until Monday and send staff a feedback.
(2) By looking at any post on the “write” page you can locate the uploader and you can see the file types that can be uploaded into wordpress.com blogs written there.
(3) The workaround is to download a free wordpress.org blog template. Upload your files into it, export them in *.xml and import them into a wordpress.com blog. The 2.1 release has an exporter that will kickout a *.xml file that can be imported here at wordpress.com
