Open PDF with menu Title
-
I am trying to link a PDF to a Menu Header called Resume. I watched some youtube videos that show you can upload a media file and create a custom link to put in the header. I do it step-by-step and it’s just not working for me. Every time I click the Resume page in the Menu, it just refreshes the page that I am currently on. The weird thing is that when I open the Resume page in a new tab, it works just fine. I think my custom theme won’t allow me to leave my webpage. I’d appreciate any help, thanks!

Hi there,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider.
Support for your version of WordPress can be found here:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums
That said, what you currently have linked in your menu on that site is a page with the slug
http-zacharylalich-com-wp-content-uploads-2018-11-lalich-website-resume-pdfwhen what you want to be linking to there is the media file URL of the actual file on your site. To add that URL to your menu, view the file in your media library, and look for the media file URL. It will be a link ending in.pdf, the actual file format of the file. Add that link to your menu as a custom link, not a page.Even then, note that it will only open in the browser if you’re using a browser that has built-in support for reading PDF files. On browsers not supporting that, clicking the menu link will cause the file to be downloaded instead.

For me, When I click on Resume menu link, it opens the page on the same tab. There is a link on the page “View”.
After clicking on View link, Resume opened in PDF format on another tab.
