OpenID credentials could not be verified

    I am a new blog owner. I have been trying to comment on other blogs the past few days but am unable to. I get an error response of “OpenID credentials could not be verified”. It’s extremely frustrating and I don’t see any other way around it. Help!

    Yes, I am having the same issue. The advice on this site implies that blogs started after January 2016 cannot have OpenID credentials. Is this correct?

    From Google I have got to advice sites which provide step by step instructions on how to rewrite the code to enable this but I don’t know/trust these sites so I don’t want to start messing about with that which I do not understand.

    I follow blogs and I would like to use my blog name in my comments so that perhaps those bloggers might consider following me but until I can get this sorted out I cannot.

    WordPress people – please can you advise?
