Opening email link in a new tab
-
I want to add an email link on a Projects page, but I want it to open in a new tab. The link box has a settings button and a place to check for ‘open link in a new tab.’ But it doesn’t happen. (Yes, I saved and updated!)

Hi !
Would you mind sharing a link to the page with the email link so we can have a look?
Make sure your that in the URL box in link setting that you add your email address in the following format – mailto:your-email-address
You don’t need to select the ‘Open in new tab’ as when people click on the email link it will open their default email program automatically.
Let me know if this helps.

BTW: I did put “mailto:” in the box. The link works. The problem is that I don’t want the email to replace the original page in the same tab. When it does that, it makes it hard for the user to get back to the website.
Thanks! -
When I click on your email under contact on that page you linked to it opens my email program on my pc as it should, so it is working fine. Was there something else you had in mind for it?
The website you linked to, http://www.clayfolk.org/, is a self-hosted website and they have separate WordPress.org forums, https://wordpress.org/support/, this is the forum for WordPress.com hosted websites.

Oh. I got there through Gravitar. They didn’t tell me. Sorry!
But my issue with the email link is that I wanted it to open in a new, separate tab–but it doesn’t.

For me using Chrome on Mac the email link opens up a new tab and my email program, the tab with your website stays open.
Try clearing your browser cache and try again as it might not have updated in your browser yet.
If you have further problems I would suggest you post it in the WordPress.org forums as they can help you better.
