Opening Links in New Tabs or Windows
-
I need to know how to get links on my wordpress blog to open in new tabs or windows, it’s pulling people away from my blog and they don’t come back. I updated the settings and sharing to open however it isn’t. Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Go to the custom menu page, Appearance > Menu
click on screen options at upper right corner and in the bottom section activate “link target”. Then in the menu items after inserting them into the “menu” you will have a box you can check to have the menu item open in a new tab or window. Use this sparingly since web dwellers are not all great at having links open in new tabs all the time. -
Oh, sorry, this is only suitable if you’re posting in html and not in visual editing mode.
Exactly this is what I’m doing – writing pure html. So I’m able to control nearly everything of my blog articles.

I try to repeat your instruction in a german interface – don’t find this way …

Is this better? It’s not focused only on the tabs in menus.
If you are using the Visual Editor’s “Link” function, there is a check box in the window that opens that makes the link open in a new window. http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/ -
I never used the visible mode ’cause I write html since more than ten years. ;-)
I think the second way is what longtermcarelink was looking for.
