opening my shop on wordpress.com

    I already have an online store and domain hosted with Wix. I am wanting to have my site and shop on WordPress. I have already designed a site and pages on wordpress.com currently with the free plan but want to set up woocommerce for the store and purchase a plan. I was provided this page from the your knowledge base.

    I was told that I can use that to transfer my custom domain from Wix to WordPress. Keeping my Wix site and shop online until I am ready to launch the wordpress site and shop.
    But I don’t think the Wix site is a self hosted wordpress. Since I have already designed how I want my site and pages to look on WordPress.com, will the import overwrite the pages i have already created and make them the same as I already have on my Wix store? I want to keep the pages I created with my WordPress.com site. I don’t want to have duplicate pages of what I already have with my current Wix site.

    In order to add plugins to my new wordpress site I have to have a custom domain. I already have a custom branded domain currently in use on the Wix site and shop. I want to transfer my domain to wordpress to add the plugins I need to set up the shop but make sure my current shop I have on Wix stays online until I am ready to launch the wordpress site.

    So will that knowledge base article work for what I want to do?

    Just to check are you looking for the Wix design to import over to WordPress? If yes, then this will not be the case.

    In order to add plugins to my new wordpress site I have to have a custom domain.

    This isn’t true. In order to add plugins, the WordPress site must have the business plan.

    A custom domain can be added later on.
