  I have the twenty ten theme. I want to have a popup window display maybe 5 seconds into the user experience of hitting my site. How do I do that?

  We don’t provide for pop-up window functionality or “opt-in” features on WordPress.com.

  What are you wanting to accomplish with this pop-up?

  On most sites you hit today within seconds of being on the site a window pops up asking you to subscribe. Therefore users don’t have to search for the button on your site. I want to achieve something like that.

  WordPress.com does not support the use of any sort of pop-ups on our sites. Even so, many of our sites have hundreds and thousands of followers.

  If this is critical functionality for your site, however, you may wish to consider a self-hosted site running the software at WordPress.org.

  You can add a Follow Blog widget in your sidebar or footer, and if you use a static homepage you can also encourage people to follow you there.

  In my experience if someone likes your blog and has a way to follow it, they will do so. They don’t need a pop up to make the decision “easier” if that makes sense.
