Opt-in box

  • Unknown's avatar

    Does anyone know how I can create an opt-in box for my blog?

    I want that people who visit my blog can enter their e-mail adress and join my mailing list.

    I couldn’t find any topics on opt-in boxes in this forum.

    There isn’t such a thing as an opt-in box, but you can do this:

    How can I offer email updates?

    Forms (Which is what an opt-in box would be) are stripped from user input due to security concerns. If they were allowed, someone could gain access to the servers through a poorly written one.

    Hi,
    As I know Feedburner is only for the RSS subcription. Is there any other way to have the opt in box at the side bar? Think there should be a way to do it as I have seen many sites of wordpress have with their opt in box at the side bar. Or we need to pay to get the customized feature?

    Cheers,
    Kim

    I just set up the feedburner notification by email last night.

    Follow that FAQ that judy referenced.

    When you post a new post, your readers will get an email from feedburner.

    If I’m remembering correctly (and it’s early here so someone correct me if I’m wrong) staff has pretty much said this is a no go because of potential spam abuse.

    @kimbryan:
    the blogs you have seen with opt-in boxes are probably hosted elsewhere using the software available from wordpress.org. Those blogs have complete flexibility, because they are not on a shared platform. WordPress.com is a hosting service run by the guys who write the WordPress software, and it is much more restrictive due to security issues.
