Opt-outs for Automattic’s first party analytics system for WordPress.com users
-
Howdy!
This was mentioned earlier in the WordPress.com Blog announcement on Privacy.
In practice, will this tool be for site owners or for site visitors or both?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jennifer,
The first party analytics tools refer to the tracking we, WordPress.com/Automattic ourselves, do when anyone visits or interacts with any site on WordPress.com, including the home page, Reader, support pages, etc.
For tracking in terms of site stats Jetpack site owners can force Jetpack to honor visitors’ browser settings in this regard, but that option is not currently available to WordPress.com sites.
Personal information we collect in terms of recording stats are also not revealed to site owners or used for anything else – it is collected exclusively for powering the stats feature – and is automatically deleted after 28 days.
You can find more detailed information at https://jetpack.com/support/wordpress-com-stats/#privacy and https://automattic.com/cookies/

That option will be under account settings at WordPress.com/me, and should be available within the next day or two.

Thanks again. I see the option is now available in our Account dashboard under Privacy. https://wordpress.com/me/privacy
