OPTI does not deliver what it says!!
-
As described above. I want the theme to work the way it shows in your promo for Opti. I upgraded to your Opti theme today and rather expected the pages to format the way they are on the demos, i.e. with thumbnails and short stories with a link to a longer item. But this is not the case, its just the same old page as the previous theme (Coraline) I can find no reference as to how to create pages the way they are supposed to be on Opti. Can you direct me to someone who can help or some written instruction

I see two initial issues. The first is that you only have a single post published. This makes it difficult to properly get your existing site to match up with the demo. With more published, you will see posts in the “recent posts” area and the layout will start to match.
Second, your existing post does not have a featured image:
Featured images are required to generate the thumbnail images you see on the opti demo.

Thanks very much for that. I will get posts written with featured images as suggested, but does this mean that the first 100 words or so will appear on the page with the small images, and there will automatically be a ‘read more’ tag to the rest of the article on a linked page, or is that something I have to create? If the latter how many words in the first page? Sorry about these simple questions, but I can’t find any description of this functionality anywhere! Also I have taken a trial upgrade to premium, but don’t see any sign of the a ability to create a new format.
I have read “Introduction to post formats” in the “Get Published” section of your very good Learn Word Press series, but none of that seems to apply to my theme, and I cannot understand why?
Thank you -
Some themes handle that differently. If you do need to add the “more” tag, there are instructions for doing that here:

I’m not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. Is there a specific post format you are trying to use for a particular reason?
