Option for changing author

    Hi, I need to add the option for changing the author of a blog post so that I can post to our blog on behalf of someone else. How I can add this option to my wordpress account?

    Hi @joshc100,

    You would need to add the user to your blog/site by inviting them first.

    Please see this guide on how to invite new users:

    You would need to assign them to an “Author” role at minimum in order to be able to have them assigned to a Post or for the new users to create new Posts.

    All our authors are registered and have accounts. I need to have the option to change the author for a post added to my account. How do I add this option to my wordpress account?

    Hi there,

    In case authors are already invited:

    1. Go to “Blog posts” from your dashboard;
    2. Click “edit” under your blog post;
    3. Above the title, in the middle, you will see a dropdown menu with current author’s name. Click on that and you will be able to choose a different author.

    Hi, Thanks again for replying. I’m afraid I don’t have the dropdown menu you mention in point 3. I need to add this somehow. Do you know how?

    You mentioned that all your authors are registered and have accounts – but are they invited to contribute to this particular blog/website?

    On my other blog, where there are no other authors or people, this dropdown menu does not appear too. I can suggest adding a new person with “author” role as a test – I bet the dropdown will appear :)

    At least that’s how it works on websites hosted here, at WordPress.com, from “My Site(s)” panel”. I don’t see your website which makes me think that you might be on a self-hosted version of WordPress.org software.

    If you are in wp-admin panel (yourwebsite.com/wp-admin) – you would have to click “screen options” and tick “authors”:

    Then you would be able to scroll down and choose an author in a dropdown menu:

    Hi

    I work for a company called Altmetric who have a wordpress account.

    That’s all sorted now btw. Thanks. I was able to go into a blog post, click screen options, then tick Authors which brought up the menu.
