Option for 'username only' gone?

I have 2 wordpress.com blogs and I have 2 wordpress.org blogs (total 4 blogs). In order to use jetpack on the wordpress.org blogs you must associate it with a wordpress.com blog. So back in the day I created an additional wordpress.com username just to associate my two wordpress.org blogs with (total 4 blogs + 1 username).

However, having 2 wp.org blogs associated to the same wp.com username caused some problems! So tonight I went to create another wp.com username so that each wp.org blog would be associated to its own wp.com account. But the option to only create a username instead of a wp.com blog seems to have dissapeared. (Why?) The only options now are to create a wp.com blog or website – there seems to be no option for just a wp.com username.

So I created a blog (the one listed above that I need help with). But I dont want another blog! I only want a username.

Therefore the question is: How can I change it from blog to username only? Is this even possible? If not what do you recommend that I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I got hit by this too. WP are forever changing their sign-up process. After much experimenting, I found the following link works

    https://wordpress.com/start/delta-discover/user

Just make sure you are logged out of WP before you use it. Also note that new users don’t see the same “My Sites” menu as others. In particular they don’t get the WP-admin link.

  • Hi there,

The developers have been experimenting with different sign-up flows and the link to sign up for an account only (as above), while not visible at present, does still work.

However, you can also delete the site you have already created if you don’t want to use it. To delete it, click on My Sites in the admin bar while logged in, and click on Settings. The Delete option is at the bottom of that screen.
