Option to remove color from text missing after recent WP update

  After a recent WordPress update of the text color options, I can no longer figure out how to remove color from text while in visual mode of a text editor. It’s not clear whether it is still possible to remove text color in visual mode, as it used to be, with a couple of clicks and a page update. Is it now required that one switch to text (HTML) mode and manually remove the color attributes?

  Hey @musicdoc1,

  When you click the color text icon, there is a box at the bottom right. All you need to do is click that box to remove the color from the text. When you hover over the box, it says no color.

  @ darnelldibbles,
  There used to be a no color box, with an “X” in it, if I recall correctly. I don’t see that anymore. Now, after choosing the Text color icon, what I see below the color options are five white squares, all labeled “Custom color” when I hover over them. Clicking on any of these boxes does not lead to an option to remove text color, and in fact has no apparent effect at all.

  I’m using the classic post and page editors, btw, if that makes a difference.

  Yes, it indeed does. That box I was referring to is in the new editor, not the classic editor.

  For the meantime, you can remove text color using the new editor, but I’ll look into seeing if we can get the option back for the classic editor.

  Thanks, but it’s not worth the trouble for me to switch to the new editor. In order to do that I have to disable a user script that prevents the new editor from ever appearing. I never use the new editors.

  I’ll look into seeing if we can get the option back for the classic editor.
