Option to use our own Nameservers?

  • Unknown's avatar

    We own our own Nameservers and DNS servers. We want to upgrade our free version so that you host our new ‘www.privatgirot.se’ website, which we currently have in house today. This domain is so much bigger than just a plain website, it contains internal applications such as an exchange environment. So we cannot transfer Nameserver or DNS. We can change ‘www’ record to another IP. Will this be enough? is there otherwise any other solution which doesn’t involve movement of nameserver/dns.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi
    As http://www.privatgirot.se is effectively a sub domain of privategirot.se you can point it to your site on WordPress using a CNAME record unless it is a Business plan in which case you can simply add the nameserver record (NS) to the subdomain itself in the DNS zone.
    A nice help page which details this process can be found here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

    I hope that helps

  • Hi there,

    If you prefer to control your domain’s DNS elsewhere, you can also map it to us by adding A records.

    You will need to add two A-records with these IPs:

    192.0.78.24

    192.0.78.25

    Both A records must be added on the root domain.

    Also note that we don’t support using the www subdomain on sites hosted on WordPress.com, regardless of whether you use name servers or A records to point the domain here. We automatically redirect the www subdomain to the root, so it will still load your site, but there is no way to have the www subdomain be visible.

    @mouli

    We do not support mapping a root domain via CNAME or NS records, and the www subdomain does not work the same as other subdomains in this regard.
