Optional Excerpt

  Since the demise of a functioning more tag on the RSS feeds I’ve been trying to find a replacement function. Isadora suggested the Optional Excerpt box and I created a test blog to check it before using it on our main blog (www.bonnieclyde.wordpress.com) which is syndicated on RSS feeds but am having absolutely no luck. I am using the Chaotic Soul theme and do not see the optional excerpts appear in the archives. If someone could please help me figure this out and also give explicit instructions on how to insert an image in the Optional Excerpt box i would be forever grateful. That — or — Please bring back the more tag functions for RSS feeds!!

  You don’t want to use the Summarized feed instead of the Full? What specific functionality are you looking for?

  I just tested the optional excerpt. If you use

  <img src="urlofyourimgae"

  it shows up in the feed just fine

  I wouldn’t expect it to show up in the archives as that is not the purpose of it, at least not as I understand it.

  Shoot – I screwed that up. Should be

  <img src="urlofyourimage">

  And rain – apparently the summarized feed doesn’t include images. (I have no idea on that.)

  That would make sense. But there are a lot of people who seem to feel that there is no alternative to Full Feeds.

  Heck, I only found out last month that YouTubes don’t show up even in Full Feeds.
