Optional Excerpt not showing up in post

  An ‘optional excerpt’ usually shows up indented with shadow quotes correct? But they do not show up at all with my blog. I tried several tests and tested it in Safari and Firefox but it’s not excerpting. Is there perhaps some option to turn the feature on that I am missing? Thanks.

  I found the ctrl-q option in the post which indents text. What the optional excerpt does then I still don’t know…
