Orange Box on Admin Bar not showing drop down information?

    On my Dashboard page, in the Admin Bar, on the far Right side is an orange box with either a comment bubble, star (Likes), or plus sign (new subscriber). For a few weeks, when I click on this, the drop down screen is blank (e.g. I cannot read notification of the above actions). Do I need to re-set something?
