order blocked by Irish lack of postal code
-
I am trying to register a new site but the billing site hangs up because it queries my postal code. We don’t really have postal codes in Ireland, there is a newish privately owned system that no one uses, so I doubt it is that. Surely this must be known?

Thanks, I did try all of that, finally put in an EirCode that seemed to work, but I would have had to pay to look up the real one for the employer address I was trying to use. The system in Ireland is not widely used or accepted, indeed it is rather a boondoggle, so this requirement should really be removed for the Republic.

Hi there,
I realise this is frustrating, but this is something we have no control over. The domain registry for a particular domain sets the requirement for what info is needed to register a particular domain (for .nl domains you sill need to provide a fax number!), and domain registrars have to get that information from everyone who registers a domain. There isn’t an option to waive it for a particular country.
We do what we can on our end – for example Jamaica uses absolutely no post code system at all, so we’ve hard-coded a generic code into our system that users from that country can use – but if a country does have a system, even if it isn’t widely used, then valid codes do need to be entered.

According to http://en.world-postcodes.com/Lebanon and several other sites Lebanon has a postal code system. You need to provide a 8-digit code for Lebanon, with a space between the 4th and 5th characters.
