Order in tag feeds – how do you move your blog to the top

    I have had the Hinduism tag feed in my iGoogle page so I can see new posts. Up until a couple of months ago the feed would display all posts in order from the most recent first. Then one site started moving posts up to the top. You would post something, it would go to the top, then half a day later this site’s old post would go to the top again.

    The problem is that more and more sites are doing this. If you look at teh feed now:

    http://en.wordpress.com/tag/hinduism/

    You will see that the first 16 or so posta re days old and you only get to the latest post (currently Faith Guides) near the bottom of the page.

    I wish this didn’t happen, but since it is I would like to know what these sites do to move themselve to the top of the list? I used to get a lot of referrers after posting from the tag feed, but this doesn’t happen any more because new posts are hidden behind lots of older ones. I may as well join in and move mine to teh top too.

    There is no way tokeep your the top of the WordPress.com global tag pages. The display of posts on the WordPress.com global tag pages is in accord with their original date stamp at the time of their original publication. As there are millions of WordPress.com bloggers the entries are being added continuously which means that they fall off the global tag page front page quite rapidly.     That is what used to happen but it doesn’t any more! Here are the dates from the above Hinduism tag feed:

    15 hours

    I think some people have found a way to fiddle it!

    Yes, they change the date of posting. That’s considered tag spamming, and can get the blog suspended.
