Order of Posts

    Hi,

Is there a way to choose the order we want to display our posts or can we not change it from the automatic order of date. Also, same question for the order the catagories are displayed, can we not change it from the order of it being alphabetical?

    Thanks

No, posts are arranged by date and categories by name.

If you want to change the order of your posts, you must change their date-stamp (or maybe use the “how to write a book” makeshift – see the FAQ).

If you want your categories displayed in a non-alphabetical order, you can remove the Categories Widget, add a Text Widget and write the links to your categories in it. (The drawback is that you’ll have to update it manually.)

    Ok, thanks anyway.

Since in the other thread you’re talking about “books”, do you want to have the date you post each book show up? If not, you should consider posting each book in separate PAGES instead of separate posts. Pages also have the advantage that you can order them any way you like.

Well, what I was thinking, was that I want to post the whole book in one post (as I want to post a number of books), and therefore use anchors. Then have all these books in one catagory.

Is there a way to only show the title of all the posts when someone clicks on the catagory?

    Thanks

My suggestion was made because you wanted a non-chronoligal order, and is not relevant to the anchors: you can have anchors in pages, too.

What is displayed when you click on a category is theme-dependent: some themes display the whole post, some its first lines, and a few (Chaotic Soul, Hemingway plus one more) display titles only. If you want titles only regardless of the theme, you must use the “more” tag right after the title of each post (but then this will be the look of the posts in your front page, too).

You’re welcome (and that “chronoligal” should read “chronological”, of course)!

There is a suggestion in the FAQ for organizing writing a book online:
