Order of tabs?
-
I was just wondering, is there any way for me to put the tabs in a certain order?
For example, the old theme I was using (Regulus) posted my pages in the order that I created them. But when I changed it to Light, it rearranged it in alphabetical order. However, when I reinstalled regulus again, it was back in alphabetical order.
So do all themes originally list pages by date created, and then turn alphabetically if I touch the theme?
On a sidenote,
I didn’t like Regulus because it gave a line break between my categories and my post count. Now, on the Light theme, I don’t like how there’s no differentiation between linked dates on the calendar and the unlinked ones. It makes me wonder why they made these in the first place because it’s so unpractical…but oh well. -
See this thread. You can add spaces to your page titles to order them. It works.

Just for reference, it’s pretty much theme dependant and how the theme designer wanted them displayed.
There is an option to order Pages by using the Page Order tab along the right when you either write or edit a Page. Not all themes will pay attention to that selection though.

@drmike:
I started with Regulus here and really liked that I could use the Page Order tab to set the pages. Was a little disappointed when I changed themes and the order I set didn’t stick. The workaround works so I’m a happy camper again (no whine with my cheese) but I do wish this was standard across themes. :) -
You’re free to suggest this to staff. I’m just a lowly volenteer who wants some coffee right now. (Got a cup but I’m in a library right now.)

I know you just help out around here but you are by no means lowly. ;)(Your new RS avatar put me in a good mood.)

Thanks for the redirection, eclecticgeek. Somehow that thread didn’t come up when I did a search on “tab order”.
Unfortunately I don’t like how tabs look when I added extra space, so I think I’m just going to come up with different page titles so they are in the order I want when alphabetized. -
No problem. I knew about it because I just changed my order a few days ago. How it ends up looking with the extra spaces must also be theme-dependent. Sorry it didn’t work for you but you seem to have come up with a workaround. Best wishes. :)
