Order of the pages in Confit
-
Hello,
Is it possible to change the order of the pages in Confit-theme, in a way that the blog-page (in my blog named as home) would not appear as the first page? I know how to edit and use the “Order” (by number) option in the page attributes box, but I can not change the order of the blog-page (named Home).
And, how can I change the name of the blog-page “Home” to be another one? Many thanks:)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need a custom menu. See this post of mine, in particular the first two options under “Other options, special cases and tricks”:

Oh no. Is there any chance that you might help me a bit further? I tried to add a new menu, but I couldn’t find the solution. I simply would like to change the title “Home” as the title “Workshops & Exhibitions”. The page “Workshops & Exhibitions” (Home-page) should appear as a second title on the sidebar. The first title should be “About”. That’s all the changes I would like to do in pages’ orders:) May I, please, ask you to give very simple instructions if possible, like step by step, because I failed trying to follow the previous ones. Thank you!

I don’t think I can make it any clearer than I already have in my post.
Anyway: you go to Appearance > Menus and
Step 1, you click the plus sign to create a menu, you give the menu a name (say, “My Header Menu”), and you click Create Menu.
Step 2, you click View All in the Pages module, select the ready-made Home item and the rest of your pages, then click Add to Menu.
Step 3 (once they’re all added to the menu): you drag the items vertically to change their order.
Step 4: you open the Home item, and you edit the Navigation Label field to replace “Home” with the title you prefer.
Step 5: you click Save Menu.
Step 6: you select your menu from the Theme Locations pulldown and click Save. -
Thank very much you and sorry:)
I managed to change the order of the pages, but I couldn’t change the label Home. (Step 4: I couldn’t open the Home item and edit the label. Sorry.)And another problem: when I write the domain http://www.marimakiranta.net in my browser, the first page that is being displayed is Home (the order 2 on the sidebar). I would like it to be the About -page. So, what should I do to display the About-page as a first page when people write my domain and navigate on the page “for the first time”? (Sorry for my bad English) And thank you for your patience.

Okay, you will not believe but the label Home is changed. :)
But how to direct URL mari.makiranta.net so that the first page to open up would be the About-page? Is it even possible?
-
Yes it’s possible: you create a blank page in Pages > Add New and title it “Workshops & Exhibitions” or “Recent Works” or whatever you’ll finally decide; then you go to Settings > Reading, set that page as your posts page, set the About page as your front page, click Save Changes.
But you should have asked this question first, because the step-by-step instructions I gave you in my previous reply were designed for the previous situation. So you’ll also have to go to Appearance > Menus and modify the menu, or delete it and create a different one.

Thank you again. Surprise – I got a problem. I managed to set the About-page as a front page. But when I choose the Recent works as posts page, it is not displayed as Recent Work page, but as About page (same as front page). Can you, please, tell me what I do wrong? It must be a very easy answer:/ Thank you so much. Please do not hesitate to visit my dashboard if needed.

P.S. At the moment the front page is Recent works (posts page) so that my blog is more informative. (But as described above, I tried earlier, and it was possible to set the Author-page as front page -> although the problems raised when trying to set the Recent works as posts page). Thank you for helping the humanist IT-dummy:) :)
