Order Within Main Tag Pages on WordPress.com

  Some of my posts do not get listed in the right order on the tag pages, which are linked to from wordpress.com. For example, if you look at the Blogging page at http://wordpress.com/tag/blogging/, the posts are sorted chronologically: “x minutes ago”, then “1 hour ago”, then “2 hours ago” but only then “38 minutes ago” (mine).

  How does this work? Shouldn’t it be among the “x minutes ago” posts if it was published 38 minutes ago? The post was a useful guide to selecting free WordPress hosts, by the way.

  I’ve never found the tag pages to work strictly chronologically. I’m not even sure they’re supposed to.

  Actually what you’re seeing is the posts that are made in the order of when they’re written, not when they get published. I ran into the issue with my webcomic when it was here as I would load it up ahead of time but all of the posts in the tag system were in the order I saved them, not in date order.

  You can try bringing up a post and resaving it to see if that affects the order at all. It usually does.
