.org or .com?!

I have created a wordpress blog through wordpress.com but I am running into some issues with downloading a newsletter plug in. I plan on creating a business with my blog in service for others. Which would be of most service to me? WordPress.org or .com?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @mamamindopener.

There is a great support page that compares WordPress.com plans and self-hosted WordPress.org installs here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

To use plugins with a site hosted here at WordPress.com you would need to have a Business Plan, which is (in my opinion) really the best of both worlds, like the comparison page says. Using the Business Plan here means you can keep using the site you have already set up, and you can continue to customize it to your liking, including plugins. Business Plan users here at WordPress.com also get 24/7 live chat and email support.

It is also worth noting that all WordPress.com plans include backup, which is something you need to set up and perform on your own when you use a self-hosted .org install.

That’s just my high-level overview of the options. :) Check out the comparison page and know that we are here to answer any questions that come up!

I also wanted to add that if you do decide to move to another hosting provider, you may find the guide at https://move.wordpress.com to be a helpful resource.

It details the necessary steps involved in moving to a self-hosted WordPress install, including finding a new hosting provider.
