.org or .com business?

  Hi all,

  We are a team of editors looking to use wordpress as our online presence. However we are overwhelmed by the choices of wordpress.com business version and wordpress.org self hosting version.

  We understand the basic differences, but want to know if the .com biz version gives the freedom of searching and filtering functions? e.g. a filtering function like orbitz when you search for flights or hotels, or something like Eventbrite style.

  Not to worry, I can help you work out what you need :)

  Business plan

  There may be a plugin you could use to add this sort of functionality to the site, but I can’t make any guarantees that it would have this level of features.

  Plugins can be installed from the official WordPress repository through the Plugin tab in your account (once the Business plan is active). Just so you are aware, uploading custom plugins is not supported.

  Self hosted WordPress.org site

  A WordPress.org site might provide the flexibility you need, but it’s likely you will need to develop certain features yourself, or a hire a developer to do so. The main benefit of this route is you have complete control over the functionality because you aren’t limited by plugin features.
