.org to .com switch. Need Help!!!
-
Ok so I have my .com blog right now, Leopahrens.wordpress.com. I also have a domain name LeoAhrens.com that is used for my blog. I recently decided to pay for a couple months of web hosting on GoDaddy.com to try wordpress.org out and see if it worth paying extra money for. So I want to be able to work on a .org website but I don’t want to get rid of my .com site until I’m positive I want to pay the extra. Idealy I want to make my .org site while my .com site is up and running under my domain name.
Basically my question is; Is there anyway I can set up a wordpress.org blog without using my domain name (leoahrens.com) for my .com site? I can’t afford to buy another domain and I don’t want to have my website go offline for the time it takes to make my new site. Also if I took the domain name (leoahrens.com) off the .com site would I be able to use it again on the .com site without paying the hosting fee?
Sorry for how comfusing this is. I’m hoping someone can figure out what I’m talking about though.

The thing is, you could switch the domain name over to the .ORG site, and then make your blog here at .COM a subdomain of that domain using CNAME, but that would break all the links to your blog here on the search engines and such. You could set up a redirect possibly at your new web host, but that can get messy sometimes.
Perhaps send a message directly to staff here and see what they say: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

Support Staff Response
Dear Leo,Thank you for contacting Online Support. You can upload and test this and view your site via preview dns but it will not be live till you change the nameserves to ours.
Preview DNS lets you test your website prior to launch to ensure it displays and behaves properly on our hosting servers before modifying your domain’s DNS record. This is beneficial when you are setting up a website for a domain that is currently active, either in your account or with another hosting provider.
When you enable Preview DNS, a subdomain is created on our server that temporarily houses your website. If Preview DNS is applied to http://www.coolexample.com, the preview URL is http://www.coolexample.com.previewdns.com.
NOTE: If you have multiple domains on your hosting account, preview them using http://www.coolexample.com.previewdns.com/path where path is the folder for your other domain.
Any internal links in the code are translated to point to the Preview DNS site. This process ensures that all paths can be tested appropriately prior to pointing your DNS record to our hosting servers.
NOTE: Some features such as Flash® and JavaScript do not work with Preview DNS.
To Enable Preview DNS or Preview Your Site
Log in to your Account Manager.
In the My Products section, select Hosting.
Next to the appropriate hosting account, click Manage Account.
In the Account Summary panel, click View to display your primary domain’s DNS information.
If Preview DNS is not already enabled for your account, click Enable. If it has expired, click Renew.
If Preview DNS is enabled, click Preview my site.
NOTE: Preview DNS expires after 14 days but may be reactivated at any time.
To Make Your Site Live
Next to Primary Domain DNS, click View, and then click Make this site live.
NOTE: If your domain’s DNS record is not under our control, you will not see the Make this site live button. You must manually update your A record with your hosting account’s IP address for your site to publish to the Web.
Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.
Sincerely,
Ben P.
