Organise the media library

    Is it possible to organise the media library into alphabetical order, or into groups (folders and sub-folders) instead of just chronological? I have a very large library, mostly PDF files to be downloaded, and often need to update a file.I cannot remember the date when I first inserted it and have a hell of a job to find it in the media library to delete it before inserting the new one. Ideally groups, or failing that alphabetical order would greatly help.
    Someone once asked this in a comment on a reader article, but there was no reply.

    Hi –

    It’s not possible to organize the media that way. If you’re removing the old file from a post you can use that date to give you a rough idea on where to look for the file.

    Thank you. That explains the present situation.
    Now feedback. A request, for WP to find and programme some way in which the media library can be organised, which would help I am sure very many people. It could be even with the name and without the picture.

    Thank you for the feedback, I can see that this is already on our list of ideas for possible improvements. I have added your comment there. The more people mention the idea, the more probable it will be incorporated into the next upgrade :)
