Organize Media Library in Folders
-
Running any succesful blog necessarily implies uploading many images. Making a mathematics blog myself, I find it incredibly difficult to organize all of my graphs and animations. Without a ‘Rapid modification’ functionality in the library tab, it’s also a pain to add alt texts to the upwards of a hundred images already uploaded.
Having the ability to organize media in folders would greatly help navigation in the media library, and as such help users SEO optimize their images. I am aware that there are plugins that help achieve that, but at the very least we should be able to organize media by attached article.

This is essential. I have 800 similar images to upload, pre-organised into 30 folders. Uploading to one folder means I can’t find my required images as the thumbnails all look similar.
I’d also like to be able to FTP my images and folders (one click, 10 minutes), and have WordPress scan them, and add them to my media library. Doing this one by one is going to take days.

Yes this has been previously requested and is expected in a new iteration but there is no ETA on when.
I suggest making sure each image has a descriptive file name.

I found a workaround using the “Add From Server” plugin, which lets me FTP images in folders to my Upload directory, and register them with the Media Library. Using its Search Media box, lets me search by folder name.
