Organizing Blog Navigation
-
Goal: I want a custom menu widget to display my pages in order.
Problem 1: No matter how many times I have numbered my pages in their respective settings, the order of their appearance in the widget does not change. I have refreshed the widget, deleted it, and finally created a menu to hopefully solve the problem.
Problem 2: I do not like the menu option because it conflicts with the layout I want for the drop down sidebar. I have deleted it several times and it still shows up when previewing and viewing my site.
The theme I am currently using is Tonal.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How many menu’s does Tonal allow? I have two menu’s: one main and one for the footer. They are both different. Maybe you can create a different menu for the sidebar and set that custom menu (add widget) to the sidebar.

Thank you so much for your response.I have figured out how to finally get rid of problem 2. The menu finally disappeared.
I still am having an issue with my widget not displaying my pages in the proper order. The way I want the widget to display my pages is thus:
-Introduction
-The LookBook of Looks
-The Soapbox
-The OG’s: A Brief HistoryAll of these pages are numbered chronologically in their settings, but when I set the widget menu criteria to sort by page order, it does not change their order.

I just tried this:
WP Admin: Dashboard: Display: Menu. Blue link: make a new menu.
I called this ‘Test” (call it different than your main menu). Then I dragged some pages in it (some of the same pages as in my main menu) and saved the menu. You can drag and drop those pages in any order you like. After that I went to Display: Customizer and selected ‘Widgets’. Within the theme I have set, I got the option to have a head sidebar so I selected that. Here I added a widget –> Custom menu. I gave the menu a title and selected the Test menu. After that I hit “save and publish” (my site is set as private so I can’t show you). In the side bar the test menu is showing with the pages I want, in the order I want them.
Would that work for you?

To bad I can’t edit my messages. The point of me saying this “(some of the same pages as in my main menu)” is, it doesn’t matter if pages from different menu’s overlap.

Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it.
I actually just bit the bullet and created my own menu using the custom html widget.
It was a little tedious, but it’s fine :)Maybe when I get a little bit more time, I will attack this again.
